Former enterprise editor joins senior team at fast-growth tech and VC-focused PR agency to enhance media training and corporate storytelling capabilities.
Former Sunday Times enterprise editor Peter Evans has joined specialist fast-growth tech and venture capital PR agency FieldHouse Associates as Head of Media Strategy.
At FieldHouse, Evans will lead work with a number of clients – initially including VC firms ACF Investors, Astia, and IQ Capital, alongside cybersecurity companies Mandiant and Nominet – as well as expanding the agency’s media training and corporate storytelling capabilities, and applying his national newspaper newsroom experience to other internal and external projects.
Evans – who joins FieldHouse from fast-growing fashion retailer Seasalt Cornwall – was enterprise editor at The Sunday Times from 2017 to 2020, having joined the paper from the Wall Street Journal in 2015. It was at The Sunday Times that he first encountered FieldHouse: “Cordelia and the FieldHouse team were consistently the most knowledgeable, professional, and well-connected agency I worked with on any aspect of the technology ecosystem. They combine an exciting and growing client list with a fantastic culture, which made the offer an easy one to accept.
“There are some extraordinary stories to tell as technology continues to drive the UK economy forward. I’m excited to join a great team and can’t wait to get started,” Evans said.
FieldHouse Associates founder and managing director Cordelia Meacher said: “Having known Peter for a long time, and having worked on numerous stories together and always got on so well, I’m excited that he has been tempted over to the ‘dark side’! Having spent years covering some of the UK’s most innovative and fastest-growing companies, Peter has an almost unparalleled depth of knowledge – and network of contacts – around the fast-growth tech and VC ecosystem. Alongside his journalistic nous, Peter is going to be an invaluable asset to our team and clients alike. I can’t wait for us to get started and see all the exciting things we can do together with him on the team.”
Evans joins FieldHouse at a period of sustained growth for the agency as it marks 10 years since its launch in 2012. The agency registered year-on-year growth of 28 per cent from 2020 to 2021, and is on track for similar growth in 2022. Client wins in 2022 include multi-billion-Euro venture capital firm Target Global, Edda – a French startup bidding to become “the Bloomberg Terminal for private markets”, and ODIN Space, a spacetech company with a world-first solution for mapping previously-invisible debris in orbit.
Earlier this month, FieldHouse announced several senior promotions, including that of Iain Alexander to Director, the first time in the agency’s history that someone has been promoted into the Director group. The promotion round also included Lily Wiggins (to Associate Director), Jhanvi Gudka (to Senior Account Director), and Andrew Malone and Max Daniels (both to Account Director), alongside a number of more junior promotions.
